Breeders
Breeders are the people who know Pokemon and have the ability to see into their personalities very well. They know by instinct which Pokemon get along with others and generally have the knack for being able to leave a pair alone and return to find an Egg. They are also skilled in drilling Pokemon in their basic moves, able to raise their stats and strength easily, though not giving them real battle experience. Oftentimes Breeders will specialize in a particular type or particular breed of Pokemon, but sometimes they just do it for the fun.
Collective Forces
The combined name for the groups that have been raised and disbanded over the years. The remaining members have banded together under one name - though still each in their own division - to attempt to make their point known to the world any way they can. Though they still argue among themselves, they each have their own beliefs. Rockets are thieves, intrigued by power. Magma wish to increase the land mass and Aqua the amount of ocean. Galactic wish to know more about the origins of the world and of Pokemon, and Plasma want Pokemon to have more rights.
Coordinators
When it comes to "pretty", that is where Coordinators shine. Generally keeping Pokemon for their unique appeals, they enter into contests to win ribbons based on their Pokemon's individual stats. Coolness, Smartness, Cuteness, Beauty and Toughness are all categories that Pokemon can be entered in. Making appeals, getting dressed in the part and performing to the best of the ability with their trainer is generally what contests are all about. Coordinators must travel across the regions in order to collect these ribbons so they can enter into Master level contests.
Elite Trainers
Elite Trainers are the best of the best at battling. They generally focus on a type of Pokemon, and have become the best using those types. In a tournament held to see who is the best battlers, these trainers are the ones that trainers must beat to be crowned a Champion. Oftentimes they have been Gym Leaders in the past, or they have trained long and hard in their specific area, but they will put up a tough battle regardless of who you are. The champions of the region also fall under these categories, having beaten the elite trainers.
Gym Leaders
The term given to a trainer who is an elected "guardian" of their town. They are strong trainers - not as strong as Elites, however - who have been honored with the chance to help a town flourish. Generally they focus on the type of Pokemon that the town is most strongly connected to, and they will fight challengers who seek to enter the Pokemon League Tournament. If they are beaten, they will give the challenger a badge, indicating that they are on their way to the tournament. Gym Leaders are generally the main "peace keepers" of a town, and if a disaster should befall, they are the ones the townspeople turn to.
Rangers
A Ranger is a wildlife-focused police officer in the Pokemon world. They are strong willed and generally have an affinity for the outdoors. Though some patrol the cities in order to make sure no crimes are being committed, they are more regularly seen in forests or wildlife preserves, helping to protect the habitats of wild Pokemon from too much human damage. They are often also trainers, quick to help someone out in a pinch and clever when it comes to the outside world.
Researchers
Researchers are the types of people who choose to study Pokemon rather than train them. Oftentimes they find themselves in the profession of a Professor or writer, making reports on specific Pokemon, evolution patterns and other things that other people discover by chance. They dedicate their lives to learning all they can, and enjoy sharing their knowledge with others. They are often the most helpful people around, and give out Pokemon to people who apply for help when they are starting out. They generally keep close contact with Breeders, making certain that they are always in possession of at least a few Pokemon should starting trainers need them.
Trainers
Last but certainly not least are the people known as Trainers. Generally choosing to spend their lives growing and training with their Pokemon, they help their companions to grow stronger by battling against others, and catching a variety of types in order to learn about more and more Pokemon. Trainers are given a device called a Pokedex so that they are able to find quick-info in battles and on the run. They know what to do if a Pokemon gets poisoned or paralyzed and will be able to act accordingly. They often delve into the other "professions" but mostly just enjoy the ability to share their lives and their growth with their Pokemon.
